Fancy Grits, Gourmet Grits Recipe

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of Southern Grits Company Stone Ground Yellow or White Grits
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1/2 cup Colby Jack Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 tsp of your favorite seasoning (for spice try Cajun, for Savory try Rosemary and Garlic)


Steps:

  1. In a medium saucepan, add water, chicken broth and salt and bring to a boil.
  2. Stir in grits, cover and reduce heat to low.
  3. Simmer on low stirring occasionally for about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Add heavy cream. Cover and simmer 10-15 more minutes, stirring occasionally
  5. Remove from heat and add the cheese, butter and seasoning. Stir until cheese and butter are melted and well combined.


Additional water or cream may be added to produce desired consistency.


Add additional salt and butter if desired to suit your own taste and enjoy!
